bling

We haven’t had much sun lately so I leaped at the chance to finish up the wheels this afternoon. Also managed to do a 25k oil change too in between coats. Now I need to rustle me up some tires and we’ll be good to go!

  1. I didn’t see a tread wear spec for X-Ice Xi2 at your link or on the Michilin site ? ( though they boast it is exceptional )

  2. I looked into that and they apparently aren’t required to provide a figure for snow tires or tires with unusually deep tread.

Hopefully they will last a while just given the fact that they are only in use for 4-5 months. I should be able to keep that window as short as possible since I won’t have to rely on taking them to a shop to install.

My BMW mechanic actually recommended a brand called Arctic Claw that I seriously considered. They would have saved me nearly $200 and they looked super aggressive but I was afraid they wouldn’t wear well and get super noisy. In the past I have been mostly satisfied with good all-season tires so I didn’t feel the need to go full truck tread. I’m hoping the Michelin’s will be a better all around tire since honestly it’s not like I’m driving in 6″ of snow all winter.
