Gluten Cut-Back


As with many other things in this economy – jobs, wages, still not having internet- another cut back will befall the House of Beamy.  This one by choice.  We’ve decided to do a little experiment to see if cutting back on wheat will help with the state of our tummy affairs.  Ben has been complaining of bloat and general tummy discomfort for some time and considering that a main starch staple in our household is whole-wheat or at least multi-grain bread/pasta, there could be a link.  I’ve joined the bandwagon and next week we will cut out all observable wheat in our diet.  We aren’t going gluten free because that’s pretty near impossible on our food budget and frankly, I don’t care to spend the time reading that many food labels.  But I think cutting out toast and pasta at least for a week (or more depending on how dedicated we get) could produce some interesting results (read into that what you will).  We’ll keep posting on our experiment and if anyone has good recipes, pass them along.
