Been a while since I shared the funk. We all remember the 2000 video for D’angelo’s hit track Untitled (How Does It Feel) but how many of us know that the rest of Voodoo is so john blazin?

These were the early days in music downloading. Napster was in full effect and I was beginning to amass quite the collection of singles, which included the aforementioned Untitled track. Also at the time I was amassing quite the crush on a girl in my psychology class. We were in the library prepping for a presentation – this isn’t going where you think it is – and we got on the subject of music and ultimately D’angelo. Both the track in question and the current album. Man, she loved that album and in classic guy chasing girl fashion I agreed wholeheartedly that the album was phenomenal… although I had never heard it. So I set about to remedy the situation. It never came up again, and she was in a relationship anyway, with a high school boyfriend she ended up marrying. But I was blessed with this truly amazing album and years later a psychology chic of my own. Seems fair.

I wouldn’t say this is why I now collect only complete albums instead of singles but it probably has something to do with it. This Voodoo disc is already a classic and although there’s much to recommend, if I had to limit myself to one it would be;
