I used to do this thing in college where I would share a current jam I’d been liking on the very first incarnation of my website. Long before there was toolie.dyns.com or beamychron, there was…. I don’t remember. Something hosted by the RDub maybe? I pledged my allegiance to Jamiroquai in a full page spread of videos that were so goddamn hard to find at the time. That’s about all I remember besides sharing tracks. Not sure if it was appreciated by my friend or whatever but this, as we know, is my house. And I can do what I wants, mom.
Everyone’s probably aware of Bon Iver at this point. I nominate their track ‘Woods’ for my first selection. It’s auto-tuned which you may or may not appreciate. Seems to be f’d out these days but I like it. It’s got a nice woodsy feel. I definitely envision them up in the wood.
The website has a video down on 11/17/09 that I dig mainly when they feature ‘Skinny Love’ at about 2:40. This is the first video I’ve seen of them but I’d very much like to catch them live some day. So much feeling and passion, although I feel like they’re better suited to a small, dark club than a sunny outdoor festival. Unless I’m going to the MusicNow Festival in OH in two weeks I’m out of luck though.
Actually I listen mostly to talk podcasts these days sadly but I feel like the great wheel might be spinning back around to music. We shall see.
