It’s been a while since I did a music post. I was all – “woah, gotta pace myself… can’t post too much music stuff”. Then I went over a year without really posting anything.
This is one of those instances where the hive nature of the Internet paved the road to victory. I was reading a Subaru forum and someone posted a video with a great soundtrack. The next person asked who the music was by and the artist was immediately identified by someone else. I Googled the artist and found an independent online shop to purchase the album from. Start to finish, I was probably listening to my own copy of the album is under 10 minutes.
And the best part was that it was entirely legal. My opening move used to always be searching the torrent sites to pirate a free copy, but it’s so easy now to download stuff legit and unprotected that I gladly pay. Record labels can’t understand that this is what it’s all about. Well, I’m sure it seemed like it meant less money and maybe it does for them, but the horse is out of the barn now. Thank Christ.
