End Week One 5k training

One week closer to the start of race season.  Started with some speed work last week.  Unfortunately, all of my running is happening on the treadmill at the gym because of the winter weather.  I’m hoping that the snow will stop at some point this weekend and I can get out at least one of the days to do some running.  It’s a bit of a transition from treadmill back to road work.  To compensate, I run at a 1% incline on the treadmill and play around with the incline to get in some pseudo hill work.  Did some strong snowshoeing this past Saturday with Ben while we were away at Rabbit Hill.  We hit some of the Kingdom Trails in Burke, VT.  We were the only ones on some of the trails for most of our adventure.  Going through marshy areas and woods and crossing farm fields.  It was pretty amazing.  Ben will post pics at some point.

This week’s training isn’t going so well.  I am fighting a sort of sinus infection and am now on antibiotics.  It’s manifested mostly as nasal pressure, with nausea and dizziness/vertigo.  The gym was closed today (which would’ve been my speed work day) because of the weather.  So I’ll be missing a day of training this week.  So I guess this week’s training is about patience.
