  • End Week Three

Ended week three running a 10k distance in ME. Spent the weekend at Ben’s parent’s house on Sebago Lake. Beautiful sunny, warm. Weather has been beautiful but looks like rain for next week. Nothing exciting to add, other than I got new sneakers which feel good. Breaking them in nicely. Keep the sun shining, Amy

  • End Week Two (mastering the snot rocket)

Week two ended with a 5 mile run on Sunday. Have allergies which are filling my nose with copious amounts of crud. Running helped clear things out but I was shooting rockets like every 5 min. It was a bit windy and chilly so my poor littlle nose was irritated. Tips: propel your rocket away […]

  • Week Two

3.25 miles.  Had to run inside on the treadmill this morning because torrential rain.  It was hard to run on the treadmill again after running outside for a few weeks now.  I felt more tired and sluggish.  Hoping it won’t be raining too hard tomorrow morning so I can get outside again.  This weekend was glorious; […]

  • End of week one

Yesterday marked the first day of spring and the first race of the season. The Shamrock Shuffle 5k. I knocked almost a min off my time from last year. By my watch I finished in 27 min 20 sec. It was a very warm day and the largest crowd the race has had. Ben will […]

  • Training, Day Four

Running outside this morning at 6:45am.  3 miles.  Slight chill in the air.  This weekend is supposed to be beautiful, so I’m looking forward to the run on Saturday.  Also hoping to get out with Ben for a bike ride on Sunday.  As much as  I love winter, I’m getting tired of running in the […]

  • Training, Day One

Today is day one of training for the first of my half-marathons and since today is Monday, it is a rest day!  I ran 5 miles yesterday so it’s good to rest today.  Tomorrow starts the running portion of training.  Today I start trying to start cutting back on snacks after dinner and vino with dinner, at least […]

  • The Schedule

2010 training schedule So here is what I’ve come up with for myself.  From previous experience, I usually end up switching some days or weeks, depending on what is going on in my life.  Like trying to train last year while on our honeymoon in Alaska.   Trying to run on the treadmill while the ship […]

  • Training Schedule

I’m taking advantage of a slow Friday at work to develop my training schedule.  I decided to design my own 12-week training program that will smoosh together a bunch of parts of different half marathon programs.  I want to include some cross-training (mostly cycling) because Ben and I are hoping to ride the 50-mile leg […]

  • Keep your eyes on the prize (and on the road)

As it gets closer to being able to run/bike outside more regularly, I am being reminded of how dangerous it can be, even when running on a sidewalk, let alone on the side of the road.  One thing we can all do to help is PLEASE don’t talk on cell phones or text while driving.  Even at […]

  • “The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare.” – Juma Ikangaa, Tanzania

Disclaimer:  My spelling and grammar may suck in these entries.  I think I’m technologically advanced enough to hit the spell check button, but I’m not sure. Disclaimer2: Entries won’t always be this long.  But I have internet access and boredom.  Not a bad combo. Me?  Organized?  Likes to be prepared?  Ok, ok, smile if you […]
